Since October 2025 Russia blocks mobile data and SMS for 24 hours on every foreign SIM and eSIM that registers on a local network (MTS, MegaFon, Beeline or Tele2) — the so-called cooling-off period. Our Russia eSIMs route with an IP outside the country, so according to our provider and confirmed by real customer usage they are not subject to that block and you can use data normally after connecting. According to our provider, yes, and without a VPN. WhatsApp has been blocked in Russia since February 2026 for local connections, and since July 2026 Russia filters by the location you connect from. Because our eSIM routes with an IP outside Russia, according to our provider WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube are reachable without a VPN — in fact our provider recommends not using one, as it may interfere with connectivity. As Russian censorship evolves, we recommend preparing a messaging plan B before you travel.

No. This is a data-only eSIM: it does not carry a usable phone number and does not receive SMS, so bank verification codes (OTPs) will not reach it. Prepare an alternative before travelling: turn on your bank's in-app notifications, or keep your home SIM active to receive the code.
